Funded by HUD, our HETSS program provided 7 scattered-site homes in Gary, serving 60 homeless families. Every participant engaged in job search activities, with 100% securing employment and over 80% retaining jobs. Remarkably, 80% of families opened savings accounts, and 55 transitioned to permanent housing. HUD’s 2007 report praised our “exceptional” and “excellent” services.

In partnership with the City of Hammond, we supported over 300 individuals impacted by job loss through the ARRA-funded HPRP, providing case management, retraining, and reskilling to secure sustainable employment.
Our team connects over 500 clients annually to critical resources, including housing, childcare, and transportation, linking them with emergency shelters and essential services to prevent homelessness.

Ruby Homes Affordable Housing Project
An 11-unit transitional and permanent affordable housing initiative funded by IHCDA, the City of Gary, and corporate donors.
Six new-construction homes (3-4 bedrooms)
Five rehabilitated 3-bedroom homes
Created through collaboration with the City of Gary, County Commissioners, and the Knight Foundation—offering job-training opportunities for residents.
Comfort Villas Affordable Housing (2018 – Present)
A multi-unit affordable community funded by City and State HOME funds, now home to 8 families—including justice-impacted parents with children—providing safe, modern, and energy-conscious living environments.
Vocational Certification Programs

CompTIA A+ program prepares students to take the CompTIA A+ certification and gain employment as an entry-level IT technician. CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for establishing a career pathway in Information Technology (IT). It is an entry-level computer certification for computer service technicians. Earning A+ certification demonstrates that students possess the skills necessary to support enterprise IT infrastructures.
Upon completing this course, students will gain the essential skills, technical expertise and foundational knowledge of today’s most relevant technologies, so that they confidently conduct the tasks necessary to install, upgrade, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, repair and perform preventative maintenance on computer hardware and operating system

The purpose of this CCMA program is to prepare students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. Many CMAs go on to other roles in healthcare, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), and Physician’s Assistants (PA).
Medical Assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with the administration of medications with minor procedures, performing an EKG electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physicians' offices, clinics, chiropractor's offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities.

CRWorks staff utilizes the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification from Certiport, a certification program to support participants who want to start and operate their own businesses.
Sponsored by Intuit and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, ESB validates a student's understanding of core business principles, including the essentials needed to launch and maintain a successful business.
Successful completion of this certification will validate the skills and knowledge of students interested in working in a middle-skill trade profession as their own boss, as well as those with entrepreneurship and small business career aspirations.
